The Big Bang

Orlando Science Center |  777 E. Princeton St.  |  Orlando, FL 32803  (See Map)

July 11, 2009

Saturday 7:00pm

Detail:

Dr. Boom is back and ready to blow you away! Witness science in action as he and trusty sidekick J-Rex show you how they make “big bangs” from a variety of sources, including exploding balloons full of hydrogen to firing an 11-foot carbide cannon. This show will amaze eyes, shock ears and blow minds while educating on the science of explosions and sound waves.

Many people like watching explosions on TV and movies because of the sheer destructive force…but what really causes all of the destruction? Join Dr. Boom, OSC’s resident master of disaster, and his partner-in-crime J-Rex as they thrill audiences with the science behind things that go “BANG.”

They’ll engage you with colorful demonstrations that show that big bangs result from converting some form of stored energy into sound waves. The changes in pressure in the air travel from the source of the energy release to our ears…and bodies! Prepare yourself for an extremely LOUD night out.

Saturdays, beginning July 4 and continuing through July 25th, see The Big Bang show with your evening admission to the Orlando Science Center, which also includes one rock and roll laser light show in the Dr. Phillips CineDome. Tickets are $13.00 for adults and $7.00 for youth (ages 3-11). Additional laser light shows that evening are $7.00 each for all ages. This ticket also gets you access to stargazing in the Crosby Observatory until 10:00pm.
